Mars Rising Films creates incredible Zombies, Run! fanfilm

Did we mention how amazing our fans are? Just check out this video. An honest to goodness short film based on Zombies, Run! This incredible piece of film was created by the guys at Mars Rising Films (follow them on Twitter!), and perfectly encapsulates the experience we wanted to offer with Zombies, Run!

We love this video not only because it’s an entertaining short film in its own right, but also because it’s a great way for to explain what Zombies, Run! is in less than five minutes. So be sure to pass it along to your friends and spread the word!

Zombies, Run! 5k Training Details

I know you’re eagerly awaiting more information about Zombies, Run! 5k Training and we’re now ready to completely lift the lid and reveal full details. Development on the app is continuing apace, so it won’t be long before you’ll be able to get your hands on it. Once we have a concrete release date you guys will be the first to know.

Zombies, Run! 5k Training is a completely separate app to Zombies, Run! and focuses on getting beginner runners up to speed to the point where they are able to run a 5k race with no problems. We do this through an eight-week training program, designed in collaboration with Julia Jones and Shauna Reid of Up and Running e-courses. It’s a professionally designed training schedule combined with our unique brand of storytelling and all set within Abel Township and the rest of the Zombies, Run! universe.

The 25 training missions found in Zombies, Run! 5k Training all take place between missions 1 and 2 of Zombies, Run! and describes Runner 5’s early days at Abel Township. If you’ve played Zombies, Run! already then you’ll be interacting with a lot of familiar characters as they help motivate you on your new training regimen. If you’ve not played Zombies, Run! before then this is the perfect introduction the world and, once you’ve completed the eight week course, you’ll be in great shape to start playing through Zombies, Run!’s epic story.

As you can see from the screenshots, 5k Training looks very different from Zombies, Run! We think this better reflects the nature of the app, as a training aid. This aesthetic continues onto ZombieLink, where you’ll be able to track your full progress as you complete each mission. Each mission has very clear instructions; you will be alerted to exactly what exercises are involved in each workout right from the mission start screen and instructions are given aurally by the inhabitants of Abel Township.

We’ll let you know as soon as we have a concrete release date and price, so keep an eye here on the Zombies, Run! blog for the latest info. We’ll also have news on an update to the iOS and Android versions of Zombies, Run! soon…

Time for another Zombies, Run! fan roundup

We keep being surprised by how dedicated and passionate our fans are about the game. So before we get started on the roundup, a massive thank you to all of you who tweet, blog, create and roleplay in the name of Zombies, Run! You not only help spread word of the game, but you keep everyone here at Six to Start hugely entertained on a daily basis.

With that said, here are the best Zombies, Run! fan contributions we’ve seen recently. Did we miss anything? Let me know at Jem @ sixtostart . com.

  • Zombies, Write!

A month-long fanfic writing expedition for our lovely community, organised by Chekhov’s Zombie. Entry has now closed, but come October 23rd (hey, that’s the day we move into our spiffy new office!) we will be inundated with new Zombies, Run! fanfiction written for, and by, our awesome fans. Don’t worry, we’ll be posting a round up or all the entries when the deadline expires.

  • Skater 5

Some fanart by Tumblr user objectifyingchuckchilton shows what Runner 5 could look like if s/he ditched the running shoes for a pair of skates and a pretty pink dress.

  • Zombeads, Run!

Zombies, Run! coasters made of beads. Why didn’t we think of this? Something to look into after the next batch of merchandise, perhaps…

  • Press2Cosplay

Writers at Press2Reset.com ran the extra mile and dressed up as Runner 5 him/herself for their back-and-forth Zombies, Run! review. Some incredible attention to detail here, though we have to wonder how they got away with carrying an axe and two baseball bats out in a public area. Not to mention the ever-present sports bra.

  • Bless Me Sam Yao, For I Have Sinned

Don’t be shy. Bunker of Feels wants to know your Zombies, Run! related confessions. Lay your soul bare and tell everyone your deepest, darkest Zombies, Run! secrets. From the looks of it, you won’t be alone. No matter what it is…

Got something to submit to the next fan roundup? Let me know at Jem @ sixtostart . com!

Only you can choose the next Zombies, Run! merch

After successfully moving to our new online shop with wicking shirts and new T-shirt designs, we’re looking to expand our range. Problem is, while we’ve no shortage of ideas for cool new merchandise, we don’t know where to start. That’s where you come in.

Check out our shortlist below and help us decide which of these to put into production next. Hoodie fans can also help us resolve a friendly argument we’ve been having at Six to Start: zip or no zip? Currently only Matt, who writes Jack and Eugene’s Radio Abel segments, is anti-zip. Though, he is quite adamant about it.

Anyway, zips aside, we’d be very grateful if you could give us your input on the poll!

Introducing Zombies, Run! 5k Training

You might have already guessed from our little tease on Twitter yesterday that we’re in the final stages of developing a ‘couch to 5k’-style training app set in the Zombies, Run! universe, as promised from our original Kickstarter project!

Zombies, Run! 5k Training will be a new app, separate from Zombies, Run!, which will guide you on an eight week quest to transform you from a complete kinesiophobe into an accomplished 5k runner. We won’t give away too much for now, but we do have a work-in-progress screenshot for you to take a look at.

We’ll be back soon with full details of Zombies, Run! 5k Training, including information on how it will fit into the broader Zombies, Run! storyline. That’s right: the app will have all new story content with the characters and places you love – and if you haven’t played Zombies, Run! before, our Training app will be a great introduction!

That’s all we’re saying for now. Keep checking back for more information soon!

Zombies, Run! September Sale!

Note: This sale has now finished

To celebrate the launch of Zombies, Run! versions 1.4 for iOS and 1.1 for Android, we’re dropping the price of the app across the board, from Saturday to Monday! Yes, even on Windows Phone! How much will it be?

$2.99!

Zombies, Run! is now available for $2.99 on the iOS App Store, Google Play store and Windows Phone Marketplace and will remain at that price until the end of Monday. This is the perfect time to jump in if you’ve been deliberating a purchase. Or, alternatively, a great time to get friends and relatives to try it out.

We’ve got a lot of great updates coming that we’re very excited about. More info on those soon!

Version 1.1 for Android out now!

Come on, Android users – as if we’d leave you out in the cold! While iOS runners now have their hands on Version 1.4, we’ve been putting together an update for Android users, too. Zombies, Run! Version 1.1 for Android is full of bug fixes for common problems, plus we’ve added two features very commonly requested by Android users:

1) 7 Supply Runs – replayable missions with all new dialogue and story – are now available. These missions have no fixed duration, allowing you to head out and collect more items, with which to further expand your Abel Township. There are seven supply missions in total, bringing the total number of missions on the Android version of the app up to 30.

2) We’ve also included Run Logs, so you can look back and check all your past run times, distances and item pick ups while you’re away from your computer. If you’ve been syncing with ZombieLink, your run logs will automatically populate with all your previous info once you’ve synced your device after installing the new version.

You can find Zombies, Run! on the Android Google Play store, if you haven’t done so already. We will continue to update the Android version of the app as much as possible. We’re very busy with some exciting upcoming content, but we haven’t forgotten you!

Zombies, Run! version 1.4 for iOS now available!

We told you it would be soon! Version 1.4 of Zombies, Run! is now available to download from the updates section of the iOS App Store.

Not bought the game yet? Don’t worry, we won’t hold it against you. Here’s the App Store link. The best thing about grabbing the app right now? You’ll have all the great updates available in Version 1.4 right from the start. You won’t even know what you were missing.

Finally, a place to put all your stockpiled items – use them to upgrade your Abel Township from level 4 to level 5! Not only that, but a whole lot more Jack and Eugene. This time they’re trying something new with their radio show, so we’re intrigued to hear what you think of that.

Check out our last blog post for the full list of updates and upgrades available in version 1.4. We’ll be back very soon with some Android news, but in the meantime be sure to let us know what you think of Zombies, Run! version 1.4!

Version 1.4 for iOS coming soon

Hello, my name is Jem Alexander. I’m your dedicated community guy, in charge of looking after all you lovely runners. I’ll be making sure you’re all kept in the loop with our latest developments and updates to the Zombies, Run! app as we move towards season 2. I’m happy that my first blog post includes such great news as this: new content and features are coming to the iOS app soon!

It’s been a couple of months since we last updated the iOS version of Zombies, Run! and you’ve all been very patient (well, semi-patient at least!) as we worked on a batch of new features and content for you. We’re pleased to say that version 1.4 will be released soon and includes a few oft-requested features, such as the ability to further upgrade your township and audio notifications so you can keep track of your distance and time spent running without fumbling for your phone.

The level 5 communications center

Fans of Jack and Eugene (we know there are lots of you!) will be happy to hear to that version 1.4 also includes a bunch of new Abel Radio recordings, including some changes to the normal format. We won’t spoil the surprise, but we’re eager to hear what you think once you’ve listened to the new content, so let us know! Want to jump straight into Radio Abel at the start of a run? We’ve added that option too.

We’ve also added some overall statistics so that you can see your total running distance, total running time, fastest speed and other such data. Other little updates and improvements include better VoiceOver support for visually-impaired users in the tutorial section, and the ability to check the strength of your GPS tracking before you run. Accidentally replaying clips while running is now harder and we’ve made some improvements to the ZombieLink synchronisation and with the in-app tweeting service.

Here’s the full version 1.4 update in a handy bullet point list for easy digestion:

– Level 5 buildings!
– Audible distance and time notifications during your run
– Lots more Abel Radio!
– Statistics! Find out how far you’ve run in total, your fastest speed and more
– Improved VoiceOver support for visually-impaired users in the tutorial
– Find out how strong your GPS signal is before your run
– It’s now harder to accidentally replay clips
– Better tweets
– Better synchronisation with ZombieLink

We’re hard at work on Season 2, but we’ve also got lots of other exciting new content coming between now and then, so keep an eye out for more news in the coming weeks.
