This week, we’re saying goodbye to our lead artist, Estee Chan. Estee joined Six to Start five years ago and she’s worked on some of our biggest and most ambitious projects – The Code, The Walk, Step Buy Step, and of course, Zombies, Run! Seasons 1 to 4.
I can’t overstate how influential Estee has been for Zombies, Run! – practically every icon, logo, illustration, design, banner, poster, and T-shirt was created by her, including our distinctive red/black/white visual identity. We’ve asked Estee to do so much in so many different media, and she’s always risen to the task.
On a personal note, Estee has been a delight to work with, and in this business, that’s really important.
Estee is moving to Japan, but we intend to stay in touch – and if you are in need of a fantastic freelance graphic designer and artist, we can’t recommend her more highly. Check out her portfolio!
…and welcome to Kascha Sweeney!
We’re also welcoming a new artist to Zombies, Run! and Six to Start, and if you haven’t heard her name, you’ve definitely seen her Tumblr: The Wondersmith.
Kascha caught our eye years ago as one of the most talented and prolific fan artists out there, and we first worked with her on The Walk, where she drew and painted some truly beautiful maps.
We’ve also commissioned her to create T-shirts and posters based on her fan art:
We’re really looking forward to working with Kascha on Zombies, Run! Season 5 – carrying the flame of what Estee established, and bringing it into 2016 and beyond. Kascha will also be working on an exciting new art-rich project that we’ll be announcing soon!
Hopefully this image is not representative of your phone’s current state, because there are two brand new Zombies, Run! Season Four missions for you to run! This week we have:
S4M33: “One Of Us”
S4M34: “Who Are You?”
As always, pro members can download both missions right now, while free and legacy members can unlock either one with their free weekly unlock.

Check out the sweet loot that our Virtual Race participants will be getting! These just arrived in our office today, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the quality and finish of the medals, race bibs (who doesn’t want to have a Runner 5 number?), towels, pin badges, and more.
There are only a few entries left for the Virtual Race, and true to our word, we won’t be opening any more beyond that – mostly because we can’t make enough medals. So if you’re still on the fence, it’s time to jump off, put on your trainers, and get ready to run!
We’ve unleashed Zombies, Run! 4.1.6 on iOS, introducing some all-new functionality and long-requested features.
Your Run, Your Way
Time/Distance Runs – Want to push yourself with a longer 7k run? Got exactly 33 minutes to save the world? You can now set your run to a specific distance or time, and we’ll match that with your music and mission clips. Tap the new ‘cog’ icon on a mission screen to set it up.
Uninterrupted Music – The perfect track can get you in the zone like nothing else. If you listen to longer music tracks in Built-In Music mode and don’t want them to be interrupted by mission clips, there’s a new ‘Don’t Interrupt Songs’ option on the Music screen.
Keep Up To Date
Auto-Download Next Mission – You can now choose to have your ‘Next Mission’ (as shown on the home screen) be automatically downloaded in the background.
Stay In Sync – Don’t touch that ‘Synchronise’ button… runs will be automatically synced with ZombieLink much more regularly.
We’re really pleased to add these features, some of which we know have been requested by a lot of people. We think the time/distance runs will be a great way to help you train and schedule your runs, and that feature in particular will underpin our next big 4.2 update!
Android users will know that we’ve released 4.1.10 recently, which massively speeds up startup time, as well as fixing some little crashes. What’s next for Android? Oh, just this little thing called… Interval Training!
It’s going to happen, for sure! Hopefully this side of Christmas – but we’re mindful of the fact that the vast majority of our iOS players don’t have the Apple Watch, and there are other features that’d be more useful for them.
The good news is that we’re ticking off a lot of things on our to-do list very quickly, including the big ‘don’t interrupt my songs’ toggle, so things are looking up!
If you haven’t yet signed up for the first ever Zombies, Run! Virtual Race, never fear. We’ve managed to source an additional 900 race packs, and these are now up for grabs! They’re selling fast though, and there are fewer than 600 300 entries left at the time of writing!
This is the final set of race packs available for this race. With the huge demand we’ve had so far, we recommend that you don’t delay if you’re interested!
Simply open the news post in the app and you’ll find more info and instructions on how to enter. If you’re still seeing an old version of the news post, you can restart your device to make sure everything is up to date.
Look up Wednesday in the dictionary and you’ll find only one definition: “Zombies, Run! New Missions Day”. It’s rolled round again, and it’s living up to that definition. New Missions! This week we have:
S4M31: “Got My Mind Set On You”
S4M32: “Tower of Song”
Pro members can download both these missions right now for free! Legacy and Free members can use their free weekly unlock to get either one.
As usual, let us know what you think of these – drop us a line on Twitter (@zombiesrungame) or here in the comments!
