Take part in the unofficial Zombies, Run! community writing challenge

The Zombies, Run! community is gearing up for the second annual Zombies, Write! challenge. Zombies, Write! is an unofficial, community-led initiative which tasks creative Zombies, Run! players to write a 1000 word piece of fan-fiction based on another community member’s story prompt.

Zombies, Write! is being organised by Tumblr user ThisCharmingAnd and you can find out more info and sign up to take part over at this blog post. Be quick, though! Sign-ups close on Friday, September 27th.

We can’t wait to see what the Zombies, Run! community comes up with for this challenge. We’ll be watching…

Tank tops, Halloween tees, Radio call ins and more

As well as our limited edition Zombies, Run! Halloween T-shirt design, we’ve added a new piece of merchandise to our store. This new Zombies, Run! Sports Vest is available in either black or white and prominently displays the Zombies, Run! Season 2 logo. Not only that, but they are made from breathable, sweat-wicking fabric. Perfect for running!

The response to the Halloween T-shirts has been excellent. Over 500 of you have ordered one and we can’t wait to see the photos of you wearing them on Halloween night! If you haven’t grabbed one yet, make sure you do so soon. They’re only available until October 3rd, after which they may never be on sale again.

We also wanted to thank everyone for submitting your Radio Abel call ins. We’ve had a really wonderful response. It’s going to be really tough picking out the best ones to put in the game. We’ll be writing the surrounding dialogue for these soon and recording in the next few weeks, though it may be a wee while before they’re put in the game!

Finally, the Zombies, Run! Season 2 story is coming to a close very soon. Have you been enjoying keeping up with the new missions? We’re eager to hear your feedback, so let us know what you think of the story so far and what your expectations are for next week’s intense finale…

Zombies, Run! getting the iOS 7 treatment

With the upcoming release of Apple’s latest iPhone and iPod Touch operating system, iOS 7, we’ve taken the opportunity to update Zombies, Run! so that it is more in line with the new iOS aesthetic. As such, this is largely a cosmetic upgrade to the app, but we think you’ll agree that it makes all the difference.

Check out the new look Zombies, Run! app in the screenshots below!

We did manage to sneak in one extra feature, too. It’s now possible to register for a ZombieLink account directly from the app. You can do this on the ZombieLink page of the settings menu. Android users will also find this feature in the next update.

This update is available now, so you can grab it before iOS 7 even goes live. Aren’t we nice?

Zombies, Run! Halloween T-Shirt!

Halloween is fast approaching and, to celebrate, we’ve designed a new limited edition official Zombies, Run! t-shirt for just $25.

This design is perfect for those of you wanting to dress up as your favourite Runner 5 (you, presumably!) on October 31st. Or, alternatively, make a few rips here and there and apply a little fake blood – you have yourself a zombie Runner 5 costume. That’s two costumes in one. Bargain!

Don’t like Halloween? That’s cool, it’s not compulsory. You can go ahead and wear it whenever you want. Who are we, the T-shirt police?

Check out the Teespring page for more details, including sizing and colour info. Be quick, though. This design will only be available until October 3rd. After that, there’s no guarantee we will be offering this shirt again!

And don’t worry, we’re assured that they’ll arrive in time for the holiday!

Radio Cabel call-ins reminder

image

Don’t forget that you only have until September 23rd to submit your Radio Cabel call-ins. That’s the latest we can receive your entries and still have enough time to write and record Jack, Eugene, Phil and Zoe’s bits ready for a future update to Zombies, Run!

If you’ve no idea what we’re talking about, make sure you take a look at this blog post. Here you can find the full details of how to submit an audio clip to be included in the next update to Radio Mode in Zombies, Run! We’ve also produced a handle list of tips for how to create the best quality recording.

We look forward to hearing your Radio Cabel call-ins!

Supply Missions have returned to Zombies, Run!

With Zombies, Run! Season Two almost complete, we’ve had the time to delve back in and reintroduce a much-requested feature into the game. Supply Missions are now available to download for FREE in the latest version of Zombies, Run!

Run out of missions, but still need a few more supplies to build your dream Abel? These Supply Missions are replayable runs, during which the residents of Abel will request specific items. It’s a fascinating window into the personalities of each of your Abel colleagues.

Supply Missions take place during the story of Zombies, Run! Season One and, as such, will spit out supplies only. It’s not possible to earn materials by playing them.

Check out the screenshots below to see the Supply Missions in action. In order to get hold of them, just update your app and download them individually from the Zombies, Run! mission list.

Also, we’ve extended the Zombies, Run! sale for a little while longer due to incredible demand.

Welcome to ZombieLink 2.0

ZombieLink 2.0, which includes social features and achievements, is now out of beta and live for everyone! You’ll notice the difference as soon as you visit the Zombies, Run! website; the whole site has been redesigned for efficiency and ease of use.

Social Features

image

image

Signing in to ZombieLink, you’ll notice a new sidebar on the left hand side. This is the News Bar and, as well as displaying the latest news from the Zombies, Run! Blog, will also be populated with the activity of other Zombies, Run! users who you follow. That’s right, interacting with your friends (and enemies) is no longer restricted to stalking their ZombieLink profile pages, now you can follow people and let their latest run records come directly to you.

To follow someone, you will need to visit their ZombieLink profile through the Zombies, Run! website. You will see a “Follow” button under their name, as shown above. Visiting another player’s ZombieLink profile through the normal Zombies, Run! website will not work, so if you’re having problems make sure you’re on the right version of the site!

The URL to the user’s profile should look like this: https://www.zombiesrungame.com/adrian/

New Profile Page

image

We’ve also given your ZombieLink profile page a drastic makeover. We’ve managed to fit a lot more run information on your profile page, while simultaneously making everything clearer at a glance. At the top you’ll notice a spotlight view of your latest run, alongside a thumbnail of your actual base.

image

Top level stats are also shown here, displaying a total number of runs as well as the total distance, time and the number of supplies you have collected since you began playing the game. You’ll also notice horizontal bars underneath several of these stats, which indicate how they stack against your other runs.

image

The coloured arrows in the “Pace” column of your run table indicate which runs are above and below your average pace. Depending on the intensity of the colour, you can quickly see which of your runs feature your best and worst pace. A bright red arrow, for example, means this run is well below your average, while a light green arrow means it’s slightly above average.

The idea of this redesign is to make it easy to see at a glance which of your runs are interesting and out of the ordinary. We think this helps everyone and is an innovative way of displaying your information.

Click that “Edit” button at the top of your run table and you can edit distances, share preferences and visibility options right on the profile page, as well as deleting any superfluous run logs you may have accidentally created. We’ve improved the visibility options, too. It’s now much harder to accidentally hide runs, as well as easier to make them visible again if you need to.

Achievements

The next step is something that we think you’ll all be very excited about. We’re introducing a full achievement system into ZombieLink. If you’re unfamiliar with such a thing, this means that by completing in-game tasks or reaching certain milestones, you’ll be rewarded with a badge for your profile which you can show off to your friends.

image

We have a huge array of achievements planned, ranging from the simple (collect 100 supplies) right through to some which are much more difficult (run more than 20k in one run). We’ll also have some properly hardcore achievements for the completionists out there, such as one which requires you to run for a total of 1000 miles.

Achievements will be available soon and we’ll be letting you guys know as soon as we have more information and/or a solid release date for that. Don’t worry, you’ll be receiving any achievements you’re due retroactively, so you won’t need to start from scratch again. We’re not masochists.

If you have any problems with the new website, or any other feedback on ZombieLink 2.0, then be sure to email us at support@zombiesrungame.com.
