The Walk now on sale this week only!

If you enjoy Zombies, Run!, you may be interested in another of our games, The Walk. It’s a great way to track and improve how much you walk day to day, and it’s got a full length story by Naomi Alderman, lead writer of Zombies, Run! It’s also 80% off for the next week only, so you can now get your hands on it for just $0.99 USD!

The story of The Walk is told in a similar format as Zombies, Run!, however there are some important differences. Check out this blog post for a full run-down of what those differences are.

The Zombies, Run! hiatus ends next week, so you can look forward to a new batch of Season 3 missions releasing on Wednesday June 18. In the meantime, happy walking!

Part 2 of The Walk is now available as a free update!

We’ve just released the second half of The Walk as a free update for all players! Well, we say “second half”, but this massive content pack actually contains 28 new episodes and 7 new challenges, bringing the total up to 51 episodes and 14 challenges. Even if you’re a world class hiker (do hikers have a class system..?), that’s going to take you a while to get through.

These missions culminate in an epic finale to The Walk’s gripping story. We’re pretty confident that you’ll be surprised and enthralled by what’s to come. Naomi Alderman, lead writer and co-creator of The Walk said:

“I think we’ve got some real surprises ahead for players in the second half of The Walk. I love a good bit of misdirection, and not everything will turn out to be as it seems…. I had a really great time putting this together, with the help of Andrea Phillips, who did story and character work and early drafts, and Rebecca Levene and David Bryher, who both wrote and helped to craft the story.

"We wanted to make a story with as many twists and turns as your path from Edinburgh to London… and I think we’ve achieved that! I’m excited to see what the players make of it.”

To reiterate, this is a free update, whether you’re new to The Walk, or you’ve already picked up every collectable and scanned every landscape feature of the game’s first half. All you have to do is download the update from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store and your new missions will there ready and waiting for you. Happy walking!

If you haven’t grabbed The Walk yet, now is the perfect time to do so. It’s on sale for a very limited time, so don’t delay!

Zombies, Run! & The Walk flash sale!

image

To celebrate the decline of the Polar Vortex, and the gradual re-emergence of warm(er) weather, we have decided to drop the price of all of our games by 50%. That’s The Walk, Zombies, Run!, and Zombies, Run! 5k Training all half price or lower!

This sale will only last for three days, so make the most of it while you can. It’s never too late to start those new years resolutions, you know. With the weather turning less apocalypsey, now is the perfect time to get out there and start running (or walking)!

Speaking of The Walk, we’ve just released version 1.1 on Android. It’s a huge update which adds all sorts of features, such as new challenge missions, improvements to the game’s tracking accuracy and the ability to auto-play story clips while you’re out walking. There’s plenty more The Walk missions to come, too. We’ll be releasing the second half of the game as a free update for all users. A few wee updates and a big thank you!

We had over 1600 replies to our Fitness Survey, so thanks to everyone who took part in that! We’ll be using the data to help design our upcoming games and decide what features, services and devices to develop in the future. We’ll be contacting one of you at random via email so that we can send you your Zombies, Run! prize.

An 2.5.1 update to Zombies, Run! on iOS has just gone live today, too. This will solve any crashing issues you might be experiencing after you installed Zombies, Run! version 2.5 recently. Sorry about that!

We’ve also just released a new 1.0.2 update to The Walk on iOS which greatly improves the app’s ability to track your walking, plus it fixes several bugs. So if you’ve noticed that the app has not been keeping up with your walks, install the update and give it a try. We have some updates coming for the Android version of The Walk soon, too!

The difference between The Walk and Zombies, Run!

Hello everyone! We’re aware there’s some confusion about how The Walk works for those of you who are avid Zombies, Run! players. The thing is, despite both being awesome fitness apps that vastly improve your life, the two games are actually very different.

image

We designed The Walk to be more of an ‘all-day’ experience than Zombies, Run! We love that people are ‘going for a walk’ with The Walk in the same way they ‘go for a run’ with Zombies, Run! — but we also wanted the game to work in a broader way.

The Walk was designed not just based on the practical advice of scientists and doctors, but also with people’s normal habits in mind. That’s why it behaves as an activity tracker that encourages you to walk an extra five or ten minutes here and there throughout the day rather than making you go on hour-long walks with your headphones in.

The iOS version of The Walk even has push notifications that will alert you whenever you’ve unlocked a new story clip, so you don’t need to keep checking the app. Just set it running, forget about it, and check your lock screen to listen to clips in a row at your leisure. And when you’re ready you can view your rewards, listen to your new story clips, and plan your route.

image

We love long walks as much as the next person, but we know that’s impractical for a lot of people to do every day. Instead, we’re hoping to encourage you to take healthier routes and develop healthier habits — fewer car journeys or public transport and more walking, where possible!

Of course, you can still listen to the story as you walk, but as you progress through the story, you may find it easier to unlock a few clips before listening to them. You can do this by, visit the map selection screen and tap on the speech bubble icon, where you can queue up entire episodes to listen to.

Zombies, Run! is a great fitness tracker for bursts of exercise, such as jogging, cycling or long walks in the countryside. Whereas The Walk is an excellent way to track your every day activities. There’s absolutely nothing stopping you from running both simultaneously!

Have fun, and keep walking (and running)! Plus, stay tuned for more news about Zombies, Run! Season 3…

The Walk is OUT NOW!

We’re ecstatic to announce that our latest app, The Walk, is now available on iPhone, iPod Touch and Android devices!

$3.99 / £2.59 / €3.59

If you enjoyed Zombies, Run!, you’re going to love this one. And if you wanted to play Zombies, Run! but said to yourself “it’s not for me, I don’t run!”, you’ll love The Walk even more. Once again, we’ve mixed fitness tracking together with a gripping, immersive story and game in an unprecedented collaboration with the UK’s Department of Health and the NHS.

The Walk will track how much walking you do per day, like a pedometer, and we’ll set you daily goals to help you walk more every day and stay healthy. As you walk, you’ll unlock new parts of the story, which is told via fully voiced audio clips, much like Zombies, Run! The app runs in the background using our special battery saving tracking system and measures the number of steps and the distance travelled on any given day.

There’s a massive amount of content in The Walk — over three month’s worth! It’s an epic techno-thriller that puts you in the shoes of Walker, a mysterious hero tasked with delivering a mysterious package after an explosion at Inverness station disables the entire country’s electronics and transport infrastructure. You’ll need to walk the length of the UK in order to find out what’s going on and who you can trust. If you make it, maybe you can save the world…

We’ve previously announced that Zombies, Run! players will recognise many of the voices in The Walk. We’ve brought back a bunch of actors to play all new characters in this story, including Philip Nightingale (Sam Yao), Olga Leon (Archie), Jen Tan (Runner 4 and Nadia) and Victoria Grove (Paula).

The Walk is perfect for anyone wanting to keep healthy by being more active. You don’t have to be a fitness fanatic, the game adapts its goals to your fitness history. As reported by the BBC, just 150 minutes of weekly moderate physical activity could significantly improve your health. This could be the most important New Year’s Resolution you’ve ever made.

You can grab The Walk right now from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. Usually the game will cost $4.99 (£2.99 / €4.49) but we’ve cut the price by 20% for launch to just $3.99! (£2.59 / €3.59). Be quick, though, this special price will only last for a week!
